[FAQ Index]

What is TrueSwitch?
TrueSwitch is a service intended to help you with all your needs while switching your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Using TrueSwitch is a good way to ensure your switch to Internet Express to be fast and easy. Transfer all your stored information from your current account and continue to keep in touch with friends and business contacts you may otherwise lose touch with while changing your e-mail address.

How does TrueSwitch work?
TrueSwitch is an automated system that accesses your old ISP account on your behalf and copies your data (e-mail, address book contacts, calendar and other stored information). All this is then duplicated at your new Internet Express account. If you are using an application on your desktop such as AOL or MSN Explorer, the data stored in that application will be migrated to your Internet Express version of Outlook Express.

How secure is TrueSwitch?
TrueSwitch is committed to using the best commercially available technology and procedures to protect the security of your data.

Does my information stay private?
Yes, your privacy is a high priority. TrueSwitch will not give your information to any third party.

Which internet service providers does Internet Express migrate from using the TrueSwitch service?
AOL, MSN, Earthlink, CompuServe and SBCGlobal.

What are the requirements to run TrueSwitch?

  • Operating System: Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows Home and Windows XP.
  • Pentium II 133 MHz or higher
  • 64 MB of Memory or higher
  • Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher
  • A new Internet Express account

Can I use TrueSwitch service on a Netscape browser?
TrueSwitch currently does not support Netscape.

What versions of AOL, MSN, Outlook Express do we support?
AOL 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0 and Outlook Express 5.0 and higher.

Can I use the TrueSwitch service if I have already cancelled my former ISP account?
Yes, you may still use some of the TrueSwitch features:
If you are switching from AOL or MSN (and you have not removed the AOL / MSN applications from your PC) or if you are switching from another ISP and were using Outlook Express, you will still be able to copy your e-mail and address book to the Internet Express version of Outlook Express. You will also be able to automatically notify your contacts.
You will not be able to obtain emails forwarded from your old ISP account to Internet Express.

Does TrueSwitch guarantee the accuracy of information that is transferred to my Internet Express account?
TrueSwitch transfers information exactly as it is presented at your current account. However, due to differences in applications at different providers, certain fields of information may appear in a different field. However, important pieces of information should never be eliminated or dropped.

How much do I have to pay?
TrueSwitch is free if you are switching to Internet Express. There are no hidden costs or cancellation charges if you decide to discontinue any of the features of TrueSwitch.
