The Netopia R7100 Router comes equipped with an 8-port hub, including an uplink port to connect to another hub. The R7100 is a true "No User Configuration Required" solution: simply connect the router to the SDSL line and power-up. And for the users on your local network, Netopia's SmartIP, a combination of Network Address Translation (NAT) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server will enable you to configure your workstations for Internet access without even entering an IP address.

The Netopia R7100 Router allows a business the flexibility to increase subscribed SDSL speeds instantly. Users may start out with a 320 Kbps connection, and upgrade at any time to 416 Kbps with just a simple phone call to your provider. Built-in VPN Solution
A new release due in Q3 1999 will add PPTP and ATMP support as a standard feature in the router. With this capability, you can create a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to offer your remote users, branch offices and even business partners secure access to the resources on your LAN - right over the Internet. Alternatively, you can use it to provide everyone on your local network secure access to the resources on the LAN at your corporate headquarters - without making a long distance call.

This new cost-saving feature, free to all Netopia router customers, uses the advanced tunneling and encryption technologies that are part of the Dial-Up Networking (DUN) utility in Windows 95/98 and NT. You won't have to purchase anything new, count client licenses or configure anything complicated to make it work.
